Murata to Cease Production of Select MLCC Products, Transfer Orders Expected to Yageo and Walsin
Murata Manufacturing Co., a leading Japanese company in passive components, has announced plans to gradually halt production of several multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) products. The company has urged customers to place their final orders as it phases out specific part numbers, which include older products and general-purpose items.
Industry analysts predict that as Murata discontinues these products, customers will seek alternative suppliers. Companies such as Yageo, Walsin Technology, and Xinchang Electric are expected to receive transfer orders to fulfill the demand left by Murata's exit from these product lines.
The discontinuation affects nine series of products, including GRM, GRJ, GRT, GXM, GXT, GCM, GCJ, GCG, and ZRA, which are utilized in various applications across consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and automotive markets. Customers are required to transition to alternative products by December 31, 2027, with the last order date set for March 31, 2028, and final shipments scheduled for March 31, 2029.
