Microsoft to Disclose Azure Revenue Starting Fiscal Year 2027

Microsoft has announced a significant change in its financial reporting structure, set to take effect in the 2027 fiscal year. The company will begin disclosing quarterly sales figures for its Azure cloud business, moving away from its previous practice of only reporting revenue growth without specific income details. This decision reflects the growing importance of Azure within Microsoft's overall business strategy.

The reform marks the first major update to Microsoft's financial reporting since 2015. As part of this restructuring, Microsoft has combined its existing Intelligent Cloud and Productivity and Business Processes divisions into a new 'Agent and Infrastructure' department. Additionally, the personal computing segment has been reclassified under the 'Devices and Consumer' department.

Microsoft highlighted that the rise of artificial intelligence is influencing how it develops products and operates, leading to a redefinition of its business models. In the last fiscal year, Azure's sales surpassed $100 billion, a significant increase from $75 billion the previous year, representing approximately 30% of Microsoft's total revenue. The new reporting format will be implemented with the release of the first-quarter financial report for fiscal year 2027.
