      Scroll Plans to Turn the Network Into Private Infrastructure for AI Products

      • Scroll plans to move away from its status as a public general-purpose network.
      • The team is developing an AI product stack that includes Compass, Compass API, CENO, and USX.
      • The SCR token is planned to be migrated to the Ethereum network without changes to the total supply or tokenomics.

      The Scroll team plans to transform the project from a public general-purpose network into a private, task-specific network focused on AI products.

      The statement says the shift is tied to a new development direction for the project — using AI within Scroll and building infrastructure for AI agents to interact with credentials, enterprise data, payments, private workflows, and compute resources.

      Scroll Develops an AI Product Stack

      Over the past few months, the team has made AI a priority for operations and product development. According to Scroll, work that previously required more than 20 engineers in core blockchain operations is now handled by a much smaller group of specialists with support from AI agents.

      The team noted that while working with critical infrastructure, it ran into the need to limit the permissions of AI agents. In Scroll’s view, blockchain and zero-knowledge proof (ZK) technology can provide the required level of coordination, rule enforcement, and protection of private data.

      Against this backdrop, the team is developing a related product stack:

      • Compass — an iOS app with access to LLMs and Compass API features, as well as VPN and eSIM;
      • Compass API — infrastructure for AI routing with access to more than 30 LLM models;
      • CENO — a product for protecting credentials, agent context, and private compute interactions using ZK;
      • USX — a system for payments and settlements within the stack;
      • SCR — a governance token;
      • Scroll Network — a trust and coordination layer designed to give agent owners control over rules and data.

      In the team’s vision, Compass generates demand, Compass API routes it, CENO secures the interaction, USX handles settlement, and Scroll Network is responsible for rules and trust.

      The products are at different stages of development. CENO has attracted more than 30 potential customers, 12 of whom are currently participating in a proof-of-concept (POC) test.

      Separately, Scroll is working on expanding its content and distribution across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn.

      SCR will be moved to the Ethereum mainnet

      The Scroll team said it no longer believes that maintaining a public general-purpose network is the best way to differentiate the project and support new products.

      As a result, Scroll plans to transition to a private network designed around Compass and the broader stack of AI products. The transition is planned to be carried out gradually over nine months. At the same time, the team still needs to determine the network’s exact operating model and a detailed migration plan.

      Under the current plan, the SCR token will be moved to the Ethereum mainnet. Its total supply and tokenomics will remain unchanged, and SCR will continue to serve as the governance token of the Scroll network.

      The Scroll team emphasized that the published material is an informational update, not an official proposal or a vote. The team plans to present a separate proposal on the network transition and the issues that will require DAO approval after the details are finalized.

      As a reminder, earlier OpenAI Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki called on AI companies to be prepared to slow down the development of the most powerful models.
