Stellar Network Welcomes MoneyGram, Figure, and Range as Tier 1 Validators
The Stellar Development Foundation has announced the addition of MoneyGram, Figure Markets, and Range as Tier 1 validators on its network, a move that underscores a significant institutional commitment to regulated blockchain payments. This integration, which began on July 16, 2026, is expected to be completed by mid-August 2026.
Tier 1 validators play a crucial role in the Stellar Consensus Protocol, operating multiple geographically distributed nodes and maintaining a high uptime of 99.9% or better. Unlike traditional blockchains, Stellar's model relies on a network of trusted peer relationships rather than transaction fees or block rewards, making the role of these validators essential for the network's reliability.
MoneyGram, a long-time partner of Stellar, serves over 60 million customers globally. Figure Markets focuses on regulated asset issuance, while Range specializes in asset monitoring across numerous networks. Their involvement as Tier 1 validators enhances the network's fault tolerance and resilience, as these firms are motivated by the operational stability of Stellar rather than financial incentives from the protocol. This shift marks a significant evolution in the network's infrastructure, broadening its geographic distribution and operational diversity.
