US Republicans: Crypto Clarity Act may fail in Senate Next Week

US Republicans are reportedly expecting the crypto clarity act to fail its upcoming vote in the Senate next week. The Senate has scheduled a key procedural cloture vote on the CLARITY Act (H.R. 3633) for September 15, 2026, around 2:15 p.m. ET. Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina said Tuesday that he believes the bill “is going to fail” unless the White House helps bridge the divide.

Similarly, Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis said this week, “If the CLARITY Act does not pass in this Congress, the next real opportunity for crypto regulation may be delayed until 2030.”

The CLARITY Act has been the talk of town within the cryptocurrency community for quite some time now. This bull aims to bring more regulatory clarity to the budding asset class. The legislation also aims to bring more investor protection. If passed the law could lead to investors feeling a lot more safe within the cryptocurrency sector. The cryptocurrency landscape is plagued with scams and hacks that has kept a significant number of people away from it. However, the CLARITY Act could change this outlook.

Several traditional investment firms and banking experts are also calling on the Senate to pass the landmark crypto bill. Bank of America, Citi Bank, and others have backed it, and the bill has also gone through the wringer of approval amongst crypto experts. Furthermore, the White House, particularly President Trump, has heavily backed the bill, calling on its approval to push crypto into the spotlight of traditional US finance.

While the crypto industry is preparing to move forward without Clarity, executives and investors say durable legislation would lend certainty and help attract long-term capital. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has already said it will submit new rules and proposals to modernize crypto custody and make clearer rules for the industry. The approval of the Clarity Act, however, is ultimately the biggest domino that has yet to fall, and will have the biggest impact on the future of crypto in the US once it does.
