Frankfurt and Amsterdam Dominate Solana Network Block Production

Recent data from on-chain analysis platform Glassnode reveals that over half of the blocks on the Solana blockchain are generated from two cities: Frankfurt, Germany, and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Frankfurt is responsible for 33% of the total blocks, while Amsterdam contributes 19%.

The dominance of these cities is reflected in their validator counts, with a combined total of 310 validators. This figure constitutes 46% of the overall 675 validators on the Solana network, and when assessed by staking volume, they account for 53% of the total.

This concentration of block production in Frankfurt and Amsterdam highlights the significant role these cities play in the Solana ecosystem, raising questions about the geographical distribution of blockchain infrastructure and its implications for network decentralization.
