Harmony and Router Protocol Announce Project Closures

• Harmony has proposed a complete shutdown of its mainnet.
• The ONE token is planned to be moved to Ethereum via an ERC-20 airdrop.
• Router Protocol will also fully cease operations by September 30, 2026.
• The team will burn 303.3 million ROUTE tokens from the treasury.

Crypto projects Harmony and Router Protocol have announced they are winding down operations. Harmony plans to shut down its mainnet and move the ONE token to Ethereum, while Router Protocol will fully cease operations by the end of September.

Harmony explained the decision by pointing to growing threats from state actors and AI agents. The team said that after seven years of work, the time has come to fully end the operation of the network launched in 2019.

Harmony Will Move ONE to Ethereum

Harmony proposed conducting an airdrop of new ONE tokens on the Ethereum network and migrating exchange listings. User balances will be recorded at the network’s final block. The snapshot will cover tokens in wallets, staking, validator rewards, smart contracts, and on centralized exchanges.

Users, delegators, and validators will not need to submit applications. The new ERC-20 ONE is planned to be credited to the corresponding addresses on Ethereum.

At the same time, multisig wallets, liquidity pools, and onchain applications will not be able to migrate. Harmony urged users to exit all smart contracts by September 10, 2026.

The total supply of ONE and its issuance rate will remain unchanged. Going forward, newly issued tokens are planned to be directed toward a new Harmony initiative related to AI video.

A compensation program with a total pool of $1.37 million has been предусмотрено for validators. Some participants were also encouraged to transition to working on the project’s new AI initiative.

Router Protocol Is Also Shutting Down

Meanwhile, crosschain protocol Router Protocol announced a full shutdown after more than four years of operation. The project plans to complete the wind-down by September 30, 2026.

The team linked the decision to changes in the Web3 market. In particular, it pointed to a liquidity shortage over the past two years, capital flowing into the AI sector, and low profitability for crosschain infrastructure.

According to Router, bridge fee revenue had been declining, while infrastructure maintenance costs remained high.

Over the past year, the team explored various options to continue operations, including commercializing the technology, licensing, and a potential acquisition. However, none of these paths ensured the project’s long-term viability.

After the shutdown, Router Protocol plans to burn 303.3 million ROUTE held in the treasury. The team will also coordinate the token’s delisting from centralized exchanges.

Router will not launch any new programs related to ROUTE, and any liquidity pools or token markets created after the delisting will have no connection to the protocol. The team also plans to open-source certain components built over four years of work.

As a reminder, crypto exchange BitMart was previously accused of issues with withdrawals and insolvency.
