LayerZero Achieves SOC 2 Accreditation for Enhanced Institutional Compliance

LayerZero Labs, the developer of a prominent cross-chain messaging protocol, has successfully obtained both SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 accreditations for its entire infrastructure. This certification, verified through independent auditing by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), indicates that LayerZero's internal controls regarding data security, availability, and confidentiality have been rigorously tested and proven effective over time.

SOC 2 accreditation is a significant benchmark for companies, particularly in the cryptocurrency sector, as it assesses whether systems are designed to protect customer data. Type 1 accreditation evaluates the design of controls at a specific point in time, while Type 2 requires evidence of operational effectiveness over a longer duration. By achieving both types, LayerZero demonstrates that its security measures are not only theoretically sound but also practically reliable.

LayerZero's protocol connects over 160 blockchains, facilitating the transfer of stablecoins, tokenized assets, and data across disparate networks. The company has established partnerships with major entities, including Citadel Securities, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), and Google Cloud. The SOC 2 certification is expected to alleviate concerns during institutional due diligence processes, potentially enhancing LayerZero's appeal to institutional clients.

The timing of this accreditation coincides with LayerZero's upcoming launch of the Zero blockchain, set for February 2026. This new blockchain aims to cater to high-throughput institutional applications, providing a compliant environment for enterprises to utilize LayerZero's cross-chain capabilities. Additionally, the native token ZRO may see indirect benefits from increased network activity as institutional engagement grows following this compliance milestone.
