Nvidia Announces Over 15% Price Increases on AI GPUs

Nvidia has notified customers and supply chain partners of price hikes exceeding 15% on its AI-related GPU products, driven by rising memory costs and increasing demand for compute infrastructure. The price increases affect both server-grade AI accelerators and consumer graphics cards, with enterprise costs potentially rising even more due to downstream markups.

The primary factor behind these increases is the soaring demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which has led suppliers to raise prices significantly. Reports indicate that GDDR7 memory modules have tripled in cost compared to previous generations. Nvidia's notifications to its add-in board partners in May and July 2026 included GPU kits that feature both the GPU die and VRAM, impacting the latest Blackwell-generation GDDR7 products as well as older GDDR6 models.

Server GPUs, such as the H200 and B200, have experienced price increases of up to 15% in early 2026, while consumer graphics cards have seen more modest increases of 5-10% at the wholesale level. Retail prices have surged even more dramatically, with median retail prices for RTX 50-series graphics cards rising by as much as 39% between June and August 2026. The RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell GPU, for instance, reached $16,000 by August 2026, a staggering 110% increase from its initial pre-order price of $7,600.

Analysts predict that enterprise costs related to these GPU adjustments could ultimately increase by 20-30%, as the higher hardware costs will impact cloud providers and AI-as-a-service companies, leading to more expensive training runs and increased inference costs.
