U.S. Senate Bipartisan Negotiations Stalemate Again on Eve of First Vote on Clarity Act

PANews, September 15 news, according to The Block, the U.S. Senate will hold the first procedural vote on the crypto regulatory bill "Clarity Act" on Tuesday, but the bill's prospects are uncertain as Democrats reject the Republican version of the ethics clause. The Republicans are led by Senator Cynthia Lummis, who released the "final" draft on Sunday, requiring public officials with access to classified information to sell or place crypto-related "significant financial interests" into blind trusts, and granting state attorneys general the power to sue crypto exchanges and the Department of Justice. Democrats proposed a counter-proposal, demanding amendments to the clause to restrict Trump's gains on crypto assets, arguing that the current design makes it difficult to effectively constrain him given that the Department of Justice decides whether to enforce the law.
