a16z crypto releases new version of open-source zkVM Lattice Jolt with quantum-resistant security

PANews, September 9 – a16z crypto announced the release of a new version of its open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine Jolt, named Lattice Jolt, which replaces the underlying cryptography from elliptic curves to lattice-based cryptography, achieving three key features: quantum-resistant security; 2-3x faster prover and verifier speeds; and generating short proofs of less than 100KB, the smallest among all quantum-resistant zkVMs, with further room for compression. The solution is based on the standard Module-SIS assumption, which also underpins quantum-resistant standards being deployed globally such as ML-DSA and ML-KEM. The new polynomial commitment scheme, Akita, was led by LayerZero in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Southern California, and the a16z crypto team.
