Bitcoin Lightning Wallet Alby Confirms Critical Vulnerability in Old Hub Versions, Urges Upgrade to v1.24.0

PANews, September 9 — Bitcoin Lightning Network wallet service Alby posted on X, stating that it has confirmed a critical vulnerability in Alby Hub versions v1.7.0 to v1.18.5 (released before August 2025). When the Hub management API is accessible from the public network, attackers can gain unauthorized access and transfer funds. One user has been confirmed affected. Versions v1.19.0 (released on August 29, 2025) and above are not affected. Alby recommends that affected users immediately upgrade to the latest v1.24.0 version, restrict public network access to the management interface, and update the unlock password. It also advises all users to avoid exposing the Hub to the public network and to run it in a private network via the NWC protocol.
