Bitrace Report Reveals $50.21 Billion in Illegal Cryptocurrency Funds Received by High-Risk Addresses in 2025

Bitrace, a cryptocurrency risk data analysis company, has published its "2026 Annual Cryptocurrency Crime Report," revealing that high-risk blockchain addresses received illegal funds totaling $50.21 billion in 2025. The report highlights significant impacts on organized crime networks in Southeast Asia, particularly following joint sanctions imposed by the United States and the United Kingdom on the Cambodian Prince Group, which resulted in the seizure or freezing of billions of dollars in cryptocurrency assets. Additionally, the Huibang Group was compelled to temporarily suspend its Huibang Payment operations due to these actions.

The report indicates a decline in illegal funds associated with online gambling, with high-risk addresses receiving $14.53 billion in 2025, down from $21.78 billion in 2024. It is anticipated that platform funds transferred or bet will reach $6.64 billion. Conversely, high-risk addresses linked to money laundering received a total of $6.98 billion, with USDT-related money laundering accounting for $5.7 billion on the Ethereum network and $60.2 billion on the Tron network.

Black and gray market transactions were notably high, with high-risk addresses receiving $186.9 billion, predominantly on the Tron network. The Huibang Payment platform alone received $52.4 billion in USDT during the year. The report also notes a significant increase in the number of frozen addresses, which reached 4,059 in 2025, surpassing the total of 3,199 from the previous four years, with 3,406 of these on the Tron network. Tether and Circle also contributed to this trend by freezing over $1.1 billion in USDT and more than $23 million in USDC, respectively. From 2021 to 2025, sanctions were imposed on at least 1,683 blockchain addresses by the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Israel, and France.
