Bitwise Research Reveals 67% of Wealth Managers Lack Cryptocurrency Allocation

A recent informal poll conducted by Bitwise Asset Management indicates that 67% of wealth managers do not currently include cryptocurrency in their client portfolios. The survey, which involved approximately 400 wealth managers, was presented by Ryan Rasmussen, Bitwise's Head of Research, during a company event in September 2026. Despite the significant percentage of wealth managers without crypto exposure, the poll also revealed that 60% of respondents plan to incorporate cryptocurrency into their offerings within the next year.

The findings highlight a notable gap between intention and action within the wealth management industry. In 2025, 32% of financial advisors had allocated cryptocurrency for clients, a marked increase from 22% in 2024. Additionally, 42% of advisors reported having the capability to purchase crypto for clients, up from 35% the previous year. This suggests a gradual loosening of restrictions around crypto investments, although many wealth managers still hesitate to act on their intentions.

Interest in specific cryptocurrencies was evident during the event, with XRP generating the most inquiries from attendees. This interest reflects a shift in the regulatory landscape, particularly following years of litigation involving the asset. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana were also frequently discussed, alongside broader topics such as tokenization and stablecoins. Furthermore, 60% of poll participants expressed optimism that cryptocurrency prices would rise by the end of 2026, indicating a potential shift in market sentiment among wealth managers.
