Callosum Technologies Secures $100 Million to Enhance AI Workload Optimization

Callosum Technologies, a London-based startup founded by neuroscientists Danyal Akarca and Jascha Achterberg, has successfully raised over $110 million in total funding to develop innovative orchestration software designed to optimize AI workloads. The company emerged from stealth mode on February 26, 2026, with an initial $10.25 million in pre-seed funding. In August 2026, it announced a significant $100 million seed round led by Atomico, with contributions from Plural, DCVC, and the UK’s Sovereign AI Fund, marking one of the largest seed rounds in Europe.

The software developed by Callosum Technologies aims to break down AI tasks into subtasks and assign them to the most suitable combination of chips and models. This approach mirrors the function of the corpus callosum in the human brain, which connects its two hemispheres to coordinate complex tasks. Callosum's technology can utilize a diverse hardware stack, including Nvidia GPUs, AMD processors, and AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips, resulting in claimed improvements of up to 2x accuracy, 7x speed, and 4x cost savings compared to traditional homogeneous GPU setups.

With the increasing importance of AI inference, which Deloitte estimates will account for approximately two-thirds of AI compute by 2026, Callosum's software is positioned to support ultra-low-latency tasks on cloud platforms like AWS. The technology is particularly beneficial for complex, multi-step AI workflows, enhancing efficiency and performance across various applications.
