Coinbase Wallet Introduces Pulse Mode for Enhanced Perpetual Futures Trading
Coinbase Wallet has launched a new feature called 'pulse mode' aimed at simplifying perpetual futures trading for users. Announced on September 11, 2026, this redesigned trading interface allows eligible users outside the United States to access over 290 perpetual futures markets, including crypto assets, tokenized stocks, and commodities, with leverage options of up to 50 times.
The introduction of pulse mode follows the recent rebranding of the Base App back to Coinbase Wallet, which occurred just a day earlier. This change reflects a strategic shift back to focusing on trading as the wallet's primary function. Pulse mode is designed to provide a more user-friendly experience, resembling a social media feed rather than a traditional trading platform, making it more approachable for everyday users.
Powered by Hyperliquid, an on-chain order book protocol integrated into Coinbase Wallet in August 2026, pulse mode ensures that all transactions remain self-custodial, meaning users retain control of their funds. The primary settlement and collateral asset for trades is USDC, a stablecoin that has been a preferred partner for Coinbase. This feature is part of a broader effort by Coinbase to enhance the trading experience, following previous initiatives to simplify on-chain transactions.
