Coinbase to Launch Spot Trading for BLUE CHIP Memecoin on September 16
Coinbase has announced the addition of the BLUE CHIP (BLUECHIP) memecoin to its asset listing roadmap, with spot trading set to begin on September 16, 2026, contingent on meeting liquidity conditions. This marks a significant milestone for BLUECHIP, which has primarily traded on decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap v4 and Aerodrome, where it has seen trading volumes in the low millions. At the time of the announcement, BLUECHIP was valued at approximately $0.014, with a market capitalization of around $13.6 million.
BLUECHIP is themed around blue chip assets and AI chips, reflecting trends in both traditional finance and technology investing. The token has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens and features a trading pair reference to Nvidia, linking it to the ongoing AI hardware boom. The recent surge in interest for BLUECHIP, partly fueled by social media mentions from notable crypto trader Cobie, saw its market cap rise above $30 million earlier this month, more than double its current valuation.
The potential Coinbase listing is expected to provide BLUECHIP holders with access to a broader buyer pool, as trading on centralized exchanges typically offers better execution quality compared to decentralized platforms. This move also highlights Coinbase's commitment to promoting assets from its own Layer 2 network, Base, as it continues to expand its ecosystem. The announcement of BLUECHIP's listing comes alongside the simultaneous introduction of another token, Ritual (RITUAL), on Coinbase's roadmap.
