Clearpool Proposes Migration to XRP Ledger for Institutional Lending

Clearpool, an institutional lending protocol that has facilitated over $965 million in loans since its inception in 2021, has announced a proposal to migrate its entire credit infrastructure to the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This significant move aims to introduce a new token, CLEAR, which will replace the existing CPOOL token at a 1:1 ratio, and launch RLUSD-denominated credit products with support from Ripple, a prominent player in the blockchain and fintech space.

The governance proposal was opened for community discussion on September 11, 2026. If approved, this migration would mark a major shift in decentralized finance (DeFi), relocating an established lending platform to a new blockchain. The initial supply of the CLEAR token is set at 1.125 billion, with plans to increase it to 1.428 billion through scheduled unlocks. To address potential dilution concerns, Clearpool plans to allocate 50% of all protocol fees towards buybacks and permanent burns of the CLEAR token.

In addition to the token swap, the migration will introduce two new proposed standards for XRPL: Single Asset Vaults (XLS-65) and Lending Protocol (XLS-66). Both standards require 80% approval from validators to be activated on the mainnet, a threshold that has not yet been met. Until this approval is secured, Clearpool's ambitious plans for new credit products remain theoretical. Ripple is also participating as a limited partner in a new credit fund aimed at institutional loans for the fintech sector, although the specifics of its financial commitment have not been disclosed.
