Barclays Maintains Buy Rating on Strategy Inc. with $160 Price Target
Barclays has reaffirmed its buy rating on Strategy Inc., the company formerly known as MicroStrategy, and set a price target of $160. This classification aligns Strategy with major players in the fintech sector, such as Visa and Mastercard, marking a significant shift from its previous identity as a Bitcoin-centric enterprise software firm.
Initially, Barclays initiated coverage of Strategy on July 8, 2026, with an Overweight rating and a price target of $130. Following the release of Strategy's Q2 results, which showed a revenue increase of approximately 7% year-over-year but also a significant GAAP net loss due to unrealized Bitcoin losses, the bank adjusted its target down to $125. However, it has now raised the target back to $160, indicating a positive outlook despite the challenges in the Bitcoin market.
The rebranding to Strategy Inc. reflects the company's dual focus on software analytics and its substantial Bitcoin treasury. Barclays' decision to categorize Strategy within the payments and fintech sector suggests that the company's software capabilities warrant independent consideration, separate from its Bitcoin investments. This perspective is further emphasized by the disparity between Barclays' price target and the broader analyst consensus, which ranges from $226 to $278, highlighting differing views on the company's potential.
