Payward Partners with Anthropic's Project Glasswing to Enhance Cybersecurity
Payward Inc., the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has joined Anthropic's Project Glasswing, an initiative aimed at identifying and addressing software vulnerabilities using the advanced AI model, Claude Mythos 5. This partnership, announced on August 17, positions Payward among a select group of organizations leveraging AI to enhance cybersecurity measures, having already identified over 10,000 high or critical-severity flaws across participating entities.
Project Glasswing, which launched on April 7, 2026, allows vetted partners to utilize a modified version of Claude Mythos 5 with fewer safety restrictions tailored for security research. The program expanded significantly on June 2, incorporating nearly 150 additional organizations, including major players like AWS and Apple. The AI model, made available to certified cybersecurity users on June 9, enables deeper analysis of codebases, helping to pinpoint vulnerabilities and simulate potential attack strategies.
Payward's security team intends to utilize Claude Mythos 5 not only for internal code assessments but also to communicate discovered vulnerabilities to the maintainers of the software they utilize. Given the interconnected nature of open-source libraries and third-party integrations in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, addressing vulnerabilities promptly is crucial for maintaining security.
Anthropic's invite-only structure for Project Glasswing aims to prevent misuse of its AI capabilities by malicious actors. Participants undergo a vetting process to ensure that the technology is used for remediation rather than exploitation. While the initiative has made significant strides in identifying vulnerabilities, details regarding the volume of issues resolved and timelines for remediation have not been disclosed.
