Strategy's Bitcoin-Themed Air Jordan Sneakers Sell Out Despite No Crypto Payment Option

Strategy Inc. has successfully launched a limited-edition line of Bitcoin-themed sneakers inspired by Nike Inc.'s Air Jordan 1, priced at $250. The sneakers feature leather overlays and orange branding that connects them to the Bitcoin identity of the company. The product was made available on the Strategy Store, and as of now, it has sold out.

Interestingly, the payment options for the sneakers did not include Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, despite the product's theme. Customers could only pay using credit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. This decision has raised eyebrows among cryptocurrency enthusiasts, particularly given the product's branding.

In addition to the sneaker launch, Strategy reported no new Bitcoin purchases last week, maintaining its holdings at 845,050 BTC, which were acquired for approximately $63.73 billion at an average price of $75,412 per coin. Instead of investing in Bitcoin, the company opted to repurchase 1.81 million shares of its STRC stock for $176.3 million. This marks a shift in focus as the company ended a two-month period without Bitcoin acquisitions, recently acquiring 4,603 BTC for $370 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin.
