Thailand's SEC Proposes New Regulations for Stablecoin Transactions

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand has introduced a draft regulation concerning stablecoin transactions. Under the proposed rules, licensed cryptocurrency platforms will only allow users to deposit or withdraw stablecoins from their verified accounts or wallets. Transfers to other users' wallets will be prohibited, aiming to enhance security and compliance within the digital currency space.

Additionally, the draft regulation imposes a daily transaction limit of 5 million Thai Baht, which is approximately 150,000 USD, for each user per platform. This measure is intended to mitigate risks associated with large transactions and to ensure better oversight of stablecoin activities.

The proposal is currently undergoing a public consultation process, with stakeholders invited to submit their comments by September 25, 2026. As of now, the regulations have not been implemented and remain in the discussion phase.
