TRM Labs Valuation Reaches $2 Billion Amid AI Expansion

TRM Labs, a blockchain intelligence firm based in San Francisco, has seen its valuation double to $2 billion following an extension of its Series C funding round. This increase comes just six months after the company achieved unicorn status with a valuation of $1 billion. The recent funding round raised $70 million, led by Blockchain Capital, bringing the total funding for TRM Labs to $220 million.

The firm has shifted its focus beyond traditional blockchain forensics to encompass broader online crime mapping, particularly targeting fraud and scams enhanced by artificial intelligence. CEO Esteban Castano highlighted the launch of a new platform aimed at identifying and neutralizing AI-driven scams, which include sophisticated schemes that were previously complex to execute.

TRM Labs has reported impressive annual revenue growth of over 150% in the past five years and maintains a database of more than 2.4 billion labeled addresses associated with illicit activities across over 180 blockchains. The company serves law enforcement and national security agencies in more than 50 countries, as well as major financial institutions such as Coinbase and PayPal. In 2026, it secured contracts related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and began providing intelligence reports on sanctions evasion flows.

The emphasis on 'explainability' in TRM Labs' AI tools indicates a focus on ensuring that algorithms used to flag suspicious activities can be clearly understood in legal contexts. This approach suggests that the company is not only concerned with detection but also with supporting the prosecutorial process.
