Apollo Global Management Winds Down Certain Products at Eliant Trade Finance Platform

Apollo Global Management has announced the discontinuation of specific invoice-financing products at its Eliant Trade Finance platform, following a challenging period for the inventory financing market. The decision, revealed on September 11, affects Eliant's mid-market accounts receivable and supply-chain finance initiatives, while the remainder of the platform will continue to operate as usual.

Eliant Trade Finance LP was established in January 2022 through a partnership between Apollo, its insurance affiliate Athene, and French banking giant BNP Paribas. The platform aimed to provide working capital solutions to businesses often overlooked by traditional banks, launching with $1.3 billion in signed programs. By 2025, Eliant reported $1.6 billion in new transactions across various financing sectors, including inventory and receivables, and expanded its operations into the Asia-Pacific region.

The decision to wind down these specific products is attributed to adverse market conditions rather than any operational shortcomings within the platform. The reduction in offerings is significant, as traditional banks have been retreating from trade finance due to stringent capital requirements, creating opportunities for alternative lenders like Eliant to fill the void. However, the loss of mid-market receivables and supply-chain finance components is expected to impact Eliant's transaction volume moving forward.
