Bitcoin Broke Above $75,000, and Ethereum — $2,300

      • On August 19, the crypto market entered an uptrend.
      • Bitcoin and Ethereum broke through multi-month highs.
      • Expert rhetoric and investor expectations are gradually taking on a more positive tone.

The crypto market continues to trend upward. Against this backdrop, bitcoin broke above $75,000, while Ethereum cleared $2,300. Weekly gains stand at 18.8% and 25.5%, respectively.

As of writing, bitcoin is trading above $75,400. The last time it traded at this level was in late May 2026.

Ethereum’s price, in turn, reached $2,366. This level was last seen back in early May 2026.

As the uptrend that emerged on the market on August 19, 2026, continued, the sector faced another wave of short-position liquidations. Over the past 24 hours, losses totaled $1.26 billion.

The Fear and Greed Index has risen by another 13 points over the past 24 hours. It is deep in the “green” zone.

The rally in high-risk assets in general, and cryptocurrencies in particular, is primarily supported by the U.S. Treasury’s decision to double the volume of long-term bond buybacks, which pushed yields on those securities lower.

Another factor is a shift in the regulatory process. U.S. President Donald Trump held a meeting with crypto industry representatives, where he urged approval of a framework bill (the CLARITY Act).

Bitcoin analyst James Check commented on the situation, noting that market sentiment has completely shifted. He views the current rally as a bear capitulation and a potential end to this phase.
