Bitcoin ETFs Experience Highest Weekly Inflows in Ten Months Amid Price Surge

Last week, spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States saw their strongest weekly inflows in ten months, totaling $1.92 billion. This surge in investment coincided with a significant rally in Bitcoin's price, which increased by approximately 23%, marking its largest weekly gain in over three years. The last time Bitcoin ETFs experienced such a substantial inflow was in early October of the previous year, when they attracted $2.71 billion.

The funds also recorded their highest single-day inflow in more than three months on August 20, with investors contributing $606.3 million. This renewed interest in Bitcoin is attributed to several factors, including a short squeeze and a decline in long-term Treasury yields following increased U.S. Treasury bond buybacks. Additionally, proposed regulatory changes by the SEC and political support for cryptocurrency legislation have contributed to the positive market sentiment.

Despite the recent inflows, experts caution that the sustainability of this trend will depend on the broader macroeconomic environment. Taran Dhillon, head of digital assets at Kula, noted that Bitcoin remains sensitive to fluctuations in yields, dollar strength, and Federal Reserve policy expectations. He highlighted the rapid shift in ETF demand that occurred when rate-cut expectations weakened just a week prior, resulting in nearly $390 million in net outflows.

Markus Levin, co-founder of XYO, expressed optimism that spot Bitcoin ETF flows will remain positive in the coming week, although he anticipates increased volatility. He emphasized that the key determinants will be the liquidity conditions in the market and whether investors view current price levels as an attractive entry point.
