Compound Finance Approves $52 Million Budget to Target Institutional Clients

Compound Finance has approved a record budget of $52 million as part of a strategic shift towards serving institutional clients. This decision follows a leadership adjustment within the decentralized lending protocol, which aims to restore growth after experiencing a significant decline in total value locked, dropping from a peak of $12 billion in 2021 to $1.2 billion.

The new budget will support the development of real-world asset products, partner integration solutions, and credit infrastructure designed to meet the compliance and technical standards of traditional finance. Industry executives noted that this move aligns with a broader trend in the decentralized finance sector, which is increasingly focusing on financial institutions as clients.

The shift comes in response to a challenging market environment, characterized by decreased overall assets in the sector due to market weakness and security breaches. Compound Finance's leadership believes that targeting institutional clients will help stabilize and grow the platform's value in the evolving financial landscape.
