EMXETF Launches China AI Tigers LLM ETF Focused on Generative AI Companies

EMXETF has introduced the China AI Tigers LLM ETF, which began trading on NASDAQ under the ticker TGRZ on August 26. This actively managed fund is dedicated to investing at least 80% of its assets in Chinese firms that are developing large language models and the necessary AI infrastructure. The fund aims to capitalize on the growth of China's generative AI sector, which has seen significant developments in recent years.

The ETF specifically targets companies involved in the creation and commercialization of large language models, including notable names such as DeepSeek, Kimi from Moonshot AI, and Z.ai, which went public in January 2026. With an expense ratio of 0.86%, the fund is advised by Tidal Investments LLC, with sub-advisory services provided by EMQQ Global LLC, and managed by Kevin T. Carter, who brings extensive experience in emerging technology investments.

The launch of TGRZ follows the establishment of the Themes China Generative Artificial Intelligence ETF in 2025, but EMXETF positions TGRZ as more focused on AI model development rather than the broader generative AI ecosystem. However, investing in Chinese AI companies presents unique challenges, including regulatory uncertainties and differing disclosure requirements compared to U.S. firms, which have contributed to volatility in the sector.
