Former Hack VC Partner Alleges Retaliation and Health Crisis Leading to Suicide Attempt

Hsin-Ju, a former partner at Hack VC, has publicly accused the company of pressuring him and retaliating against him, which he claims contributed to a suicide attempt. Hsin-Ju, who has a nine-year background in the crypto industry with previous positions at Stellar, Solana, and Fhenix, stated that he refused a settlement agreement that required him to remain silent and has chosen to disclose evidence from his tenure at Hack VC on August 26.

During his time at Hack VC, Hsin-Ju reported facing severe medical issues, including Graves' disease and hyperthyroidism, which led him to request to leave the company. He alleges that partners threatened to blacklist him in the industry if he left before fulfilling certain obligations, forcing him to work under extreme stress. Following his suicide attempt, he expressed a desire to exit the company without pursuing legal action, but faced complications with his health insurance that persisted for nearly four months until a lawyer intervened.

Hack VC has acknowledged Hsin-Ju's statements and expressed concern for his well-being, but they maintain that there are significant discrepancies in the understanding of the events. The company has opted not to publicly discuss the details of the situation to respect Hsin-Ju's privacy. Currently, both parties are preparing for private mediation, but Hsin-Ju has made it clear that he will not trade silence for financial compensation, emphasizing that his lawsuit is not motivated by monetary gain.
