Origin Protocol Files B-1 Token Transparency Report, Highlights OGN Buybacks

Origin Protocol has submitted a B-1 Token Transparency Filing under Blockworks' Token Transparency Framework, revealing significant details about its operations and financial strategies. The filing, announced on August 18, outlines the governance structure, token allocation, and liquidity management of the protocol, as well as its aggressive OGN buyback program, which has repurchased over 100 million OGN tokens since its inception in 2025.

The buyback initiative utilizes 100% of net protocol fees to purchase OGN tokens from the open market, with no new tokens being emitted. This strategy has effectively removed approximately 14.8% of the total OGN supply from circulation, with over $3.5 million allocated to buybacks in its first year. Recent monthly reports indicate a consistent buyback rate, with 4.8 million OGN purchased in April 2026 and 4.6 million in July 2026.

The filing also highlights a shift in the protocol's economic model, moving from an emission-based system to one focused on revenue accrual, as formalized by the community's governance proposals. Currently, around 47% of circulating OGN is locked as xOGN, allowing holders to earn yields ranging from 10.5% to 14.6% based on their staking duration, funded entirely by protocol revenue rather than new token emissions.

The B-1 filing serves as a standardized disclosure tool, providing potential investors with a clear view of Origin's operations and risk factors, akin to the filings of publicly traded companies. This transparency is expected to attract institutional interest, as the information reaches over 350,000 Bloomberg Terminals, making it accessible to a wider audience of analysts and investors.
