Tokenized Equities Surge to $9 Billion in Onchain Trading Volume

Onchain trading volume for tokenized equities has reached $9 billion in 2026, marking an 800% increase from approximately $1 billion at the beginning of the year. This surge indicates a significant shift in trading behavior, with over half of the trading activity occurring outside traditional US market hours, which typically run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern.

July 2026 set a record for tokenized equity trading, with $11.3 billion transacted in that month alone. Binance's bStocks platform was a major contributor, accounting for about 83% of July's volume, primarily driven by trades of a tokenized QQQ ETF. Additionally, the decentralized platform Jupiter on Solana has gained traction for after-hours trading, reflecting the growing interest in tokenized equities.

The total market capitalization of tokenized equities has also seen substantial growth, reaching approximately $2.4 billion, a 250% increase from $684 million in January. This trend highlights the evolving landscape of equity trading, where traditional market structures are becoming less relevant as investors seek more flexible trading options.
