OKX Introduces Pre-IPO Perpetual Contracts for OpenAI and Anthropic in Europe
Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has launched Pre-IPO perpetual contracts for OpenAI and Anthropic in Europe, allowing eligible traders to speculate on the valuations of these artificial intelligence companies with leverage of up to 10 times. This new offering enables traders to take long or short positions on the companies' valuations prior to their initial public offerings, although it does not provide actual shares of the firms.
This move follows similar offerings from other platforms, including Hyperliquid and Binance, which have also introduced perpetual contracts related to OpenAI and Anthropic. OKX clarified that these products are not substitutes for actual shares but cater to the growing market demand for exposure to major tech companies that remain privately held.
In addition to the new perpetual contracts, OKX has launched 100 tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including those for Nvidia, Alphabet, and Palantir, as well as popular indices like SPY and QQQ. These tokenized products allow European traders to engage with traditional markets around the clock, tracking the prices of the underlying securities without granting ownership rights or voting privileges. Erald Ghoos, CEO of OKX Europe, noted that the demand for derivatives has surged, with trading volume for X-Perps in the European market quadrupling since the implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation in July.
