TSMC Expected to Raise Foundry Prices by 10% to 15%

The market anticipates that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will increase its foundry prices by 10% to 15% across various processes. This expectation follows a recent price hike by Samsung Electronics for some of its advanced and mature processes, which has prompted similar actions in the industry.

Reports indicate that TSMC has already completed a new round of price negotiations with its customers, resulting in price increases of up to 15% for its 3-nanometer N3 processes for the second half of the year. Additionally, there are projections that prices for TSMC's advanced processes, including N2, N3, and N5, may rise by another 5% to 10% by early 2027.

The company's N2 and N3 capacities are nearly fully booked by major clients such as Apple and NVIDIA. Furthermore, mature processes like N12, N16, and N28, which have not seen price adjustments for three years, are also expected to experience increases of up to 10%.

Citi Securities estimates that TSMC's capital expenditure will reach $80 billion by 2027 and $90 billion by 2028, with this year's expenditure already projected between $52 billion and $56 billion. In July, TSMC announced plans to expand its investment in the United States to $265 billion.
