Zcash Surges Over 2,000% in a Year, Outperforming Major Altcoins

Zcash has experienced a remarkable increase of over 2,000% in the past year, significantly outperforming major altcoins such as XRP, Solana, and Cardano, which have all seen declines exceeding 50%. This surge follows the launch of Grayscale's spot Zcash ETF, which has attracted institutional interest and contributed to a 43% weekly rise in Zcash's price, reaching a peak of $1,249 shortly after the ETF's introduction.

The market capitalization of Zcash has now reached $21.75 billion, making it the largest privacy coin and the tenth-largest cryptocurrency overall. In contrast, XRP, Solana, and Cardano have struggled to maintain their value, with XRP down 52.57%, Solana down 49.31%, and Cardano dropping approximately 73.54% over the same period. Zcash's unique privacy features, which allow transactions to be conducted through either shielded or transparent pools, have also contributed to its appeal among investors.

Zcash's supply structure further enhances its attractiveness, with a total supply capped at 21 million coins, similar to Bitcoin. This scarcity, combined with the fact that approximately 35% of ZEC's supply is held outside of active trading, strengthens the case for its continued growth. The recent Ironwood upgrade has also bolstered confidence in Zcash by addressing vulnerabilities that previously impacted its price.

Looking ahead, Zcash's ability to maintain its upward trajectory will depend on sustained demand, particularly from the newly launched ETF. As the market evolves, the performance of Zcash will be closely monitored to see if it can continue to lead the way in the cryptocurrency space, especially as traders weigh profit-taking against potential new investments.
