Backpack Expands Margin Collateral Options with Micron and SanDisk Shares

Backpack has announced that users can now utilize shares of Micron and SanDisk as collateral within a unified portfolio-margin account. This development allows for a broader use of equities on the platform, enabling users to leverage their stock holdings for various financial activities, including U.S. dollar borrowing, futures trades, and spot margin.

The exchange has also introduced 24/7 perpetual futures trading for Micron (MU), SanDisk (SNDK), SPY, and QQQ. This enhancement means that users holding these specific shares can now contribute to their collateral within the same cross-asset account, streamlining the trading process for both traditional and digital assets.

Previously, Backpack offered international investors the ability to buy, hold, and sell selected U.S. equities, including Micron and SanDisk, while ensuring full ownership of the traded shares. The latest update marks a significant expansion of their services, although the company has indicated that the current offering is limited to the two named equity collateral assets and four perpetual markets, with plans for further expansions in the future.
