CZ Highlights Hong Kong's Role in Web3 Development at Binance Event

At the recent "Binance Life" book club meeting in Hong Kong, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, emphasized the city's unique advantages as a financial center, particularly in the realm of fintech talent and institutional connections. He acknowledged that while Hong Kong may not excel in infrastructure such as electricity and data centers, its competitiveness in the Web3 financial sector is clear. CZ expressed confidence that the current AI trends will not impede the long-term growth of Web3, urging individuals to pursue areas that interest them and hold value.

CZ also shared his optimism about the rapid development of Real World Assets (RWA), particularly in the context of on-chain securities. He noted that traditional stocks face limitations such as account opening thresholds and trading hours, but once assets are digitized, they become accessible to global investors, enhancing liquidity and attractiveness for smaller markets. He pointed out that stablecoins, which bring fiat currency onto the blockchain, are a form of RWA, with the USD currently dominating the market.

In addition to Hong Kong, CZ highlighted Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the United States as regions with potential for crypto growth, especially following recent policy shifts in the U.S. He remarked on the evolution of decentralized exchanges (DEX) over the past eight years, noting improvements in infrastructure and user awareness. He observed that regulatory pressures on decentralized products in the U.S. have eased, allowing for clearer distinctions between international platforms and those aimed at U.S. users, which could accelerate the development of DEX and the broader crypto industry in the coming years.
