Direxion Files for New ETF Targeting Trillion-Dollar Companies

Direxion has submitted a filing with the SEC for a new exchange-traded fund (ETF) that will exclusively include equities with market capitalizations exceeding $1 trillion. This proposed fund will also feature a 2x daily leveraged version, allowing traders to gain amplified exposure to some of the world's most valuable companies.

This move positions Direxion within the expanding market for trillion-dollar ETFs, following the launch of the Defiance Trillion Dollar Club Index ETF (TRIL) in September 2025. While TRIL tracks an equally weighted portfolio of major companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon, Direxion aims to differentiate its offering by introducing leverage, which could attract traders seeking more aggressive investment strategies.

As of mid-2026, there are approximately 7 to 12 U.S. companies that either meet or are nearing the $1 trillion market cap threshold. The concentrated nature of this portfolio means that each stock will have a significant impact on the fund's performance, particularly when leveraged. However, it is important to note that leveraged ETFs reset daily, which can lead to returns that diverge from the expected multiple of the underlying index over longer periods.

Details regarding ticker symbols, expense ratios, and a launch timeline for the new Direxion products have not yet been disclosed and will be clarified as the SEC review process continues. Traders should be aware of the inherent risks associated with leveraged products, especially given the potential for dramatic price swings in a concentrated portfolio of mega-cap stocks.
