Bits of Gold Reports Data Breach Affecting 200,000 Customers

Bits of Gold, Israel's largest cryptocurrency broker, has disclosed a data breach that compromised the personal information of approximately 200,000 customers. The Tel Aviv-based company reported that a hacker gained unauthorized access to a third-party data analytics network, exposing customer names, national IDs, emails, phone numbers, IP addresses, bank account details, and public wallet addresses.

In response to the breach, Bits of Gold quickly disconnected its systems from the affected information sources to mitigate further damage. The company emphasized that no funds, private keys, passwords, or credit card information were compromised during the incident. Bits of Gold indicated that this breach is part of a larger global incident affecting multiple companies.

The security team at Bits of Gold has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the breach. This incident marks the third significant data breach reported in the cryptocurrency sector within the past week. Founded in 2013, Bits of Gold was the first crypto company in Israel to obtain a Financial Services Provider license and currently serves over 250,000 customers.
