Experts Counted World’s Crypto Millionaires and Billionaires: How Many of Them Hold Bitcoin

      • The world has 135,694 crypto millionaires and 23 crypto billionaires.
      • More than 92,000 are bitcoin millionaires.
      • Singapore topped the ranking of 36 jurisdictions.

In 2026, the world counts 135,694 crypto millionaires — people who hold digital assets worth at least $1 million — according to the report Crypto Wealth Report 2026 by Henley & Partners. As of August 31, the total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.6 trillion, of which $1.6 trillion was in bitcoin.

Despite the fact that the first cryptocurrency is trading about 38% below its October 2025 all-time high, the number of holders with significant crypto wealth continues to grow.

Crypto Millionaires Hold on to Wealth Despite Market Downturn

Of the total number of crypto millionaires, 92,272 are bitcoin millionaires. Another 290 people hold digital assets worth more than $100 million, including 151 whose wealth is specifically in bitcoin. The number of crypto billionaires stands at 23, nine of whom achieved this status thanks to the asset.

At the same time, digital assets continue to spread to a broader audience: around 742 million people hold them in one form or another, including 371 million bitcoin holders.

According to the report, the current drawdown remains far smaller than previous major crypto winters: after the peaks of 2011, 2013, 2017, and 2021, the first cryptocurrency lost more than 75% of its value.

Henley & Partners notes that the rise of crypto wealth is changing how affluent investors think about geography.

“Crypto may be borderless, but the families who own it are not. They still live, pay tax, educate their children, and operate within national legal and regulatory systems,” said Dominic Volek, the firm’s head of private clients.

He said that crypto assets can be moved much more easily, so the choice of country of residence, citizenship, and regulatory environment is becoming more important for capital holders.

Singapore Topped the Ranking of Crypto-Friendly Jurisdictions

The Henley Crypto Adoption Index 2026 evaluates 36 countries across more than 900 indicators, including regulation, taxation, infrastructure, innovation, and the level of crypto adoption.

The top positions were taken by:

      • Singapore — leading for the fourth year in a row
      • The UAE — climbed from fifth to second place
      • Hong Kong
      • The US
      • Switzerland

Malta, Thailand, the UK, Cyprus, and the Bahamas also made the top 10. New entrants to the ranking were the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Bahrain, Argentina, the Maldives, Paraguay, and Nauru.

Stablecoins play a separate role in moving capital. According to fintech and AI researcher Guneet Kaur, they make it possible to move dollar liquidity between financial centers without the traditional correspondent banking system.

At the same time, regulatory transparency for crypto holders is increasing. 76 jurisdictions have joined the OECD crypto-asset reporting framework, and the first exchange of information between 46 countries is scheduled for September 2027. This makes tax residency, wealth structuring, and jurisdiction selection increasingly important for holders of significant digital capital.

As a reminder, according to last year’s study by River analysts, the global level of bitcoin adoption stood at just 3%, and only 4% of the world’s population held the asset.
