Global Fintech Investment Reaches 103.1 Billion USD in First Half of 2026

KPMG has reported that global fintech investment reached 103.1 billion USD in the first half of 2026, driven by over 2,100 transactions. The payments sector was the most significant contributor, attracting 44.2 billion USD, while the digital assets sector garnered 11.1 billion USD. Additionally, investments in AI-related fintech transactions totaled 21.4 billion USD across 800 deals.

Regionally, the Americas led with 86.9 billion USD in investments, with the United States alone contributing 80.8 billion USD. In contrast, the EMEA region saw a decline in investment from 18 billion USD to 11.3 billion USD, and the Asia-Pacific region also experienced a drop from 7.1 billion USD to 4.6 billion USD. The report highlighted 394 merger and acquisition transactions, amounting to 67.9 billion USD, including a notable 24.3 billion USD acquisition of a global payments company.

The findings indicate that capital is increasingly concentrated in established business models and leading firms that have proven their market viability. While cross-border mergers and acquisitions remain active, sectors such as insurtech and wealth tech have shown signs of adjustment or sluggishness, contrasting with the continued interest in AI and digital assets.
