OpenSea Launches Full Support for Solana NFTs on Revamped Platform

OpenSea has officially launched full support for Solana-based NFTs on its OS2 platform, marking a significant expansion after four years of limited engagement with the Solana ecosystem. The NFT marketplace first introduced a beta integration for Solana in April 2022, but it failed to gain traction against established competitors like Magic Eden and Tensor.

The recent rollout of the OS2 platform, completed in May 2025, transforms OpenSea into a multi-chain trading hub that supports both NFTs and fungible tokens across more than 19 blockchain networks. This strategic shift includes the addition of Solana fungible tokens, which began in April 2025, and now extends to NFTs, aligning with CEO Devin Finzer's vision for a unified trading experience.

Solana's appeal lies in its rapid transaction speeds and low fees, making it attractive for high-frequency trading and speculative activities. OpenSea's integration aims to capitalize on these advantages, positioning itself as a comprehensive trading venue rather than just a collectibles marketplace. Despite the launch, as of August 2026, OpenSea noted that NFT support on Solana was not yet fully operational, indicating ongoing developments in the integration process.
