President Trump: US Considers Buying “Sizable” Amount of Bitcoin

US President Donald Trump says that the United States is considering buying “sizable” amounts of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The President delivered remarks at a White House event while hosting CEOs from several crypto companies, including Ripple and Coinbase. When asked about the country swooping in on BTC, Trump said the following:
“Certainly it’s been talked about. It’s take a lot of pressure off the dollar. It’s been very, very good for the dollar. and I think if you came in with recommendations I would certainly listen.”

Trump’s meeting with crypto executives comes a day after the SEC proposed rules that would exempt certain token offerings from existing securities regulations. The proposal could give crypto companies a clearer route to raising money and issuing digital tokens, while marking another step in the Trump administration’s effort to establish a more favorable regulatory framework for the industry.
President Trump has made crypto a major part of his economic agenda since returning to the White House in January 2025. His administration has taken a different approach from the previous one, with both the SEC and CFTC pursuing policies aimed at providing clearer rules for digital-asset businesses. In an effort to make the US the “Crypto Capital of the World,” Trump has actively pushed for the government to pass several crypto bills, including the GENIUS Stablecoin act and Crypto CLARITY act.
Today’s meeting also helped fuel the prices of several cryptocurencies in the last 24 hours. Bitcoin (BTC) climbed above $68,000, while Ethereum (ETH) reclaimed the $2,000 level during US trading. Solana (SOL), XRP, BNB, Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Dogecoin (DOGE) also advanced as the broader crypto market recovered. This recovery also falls in line with broader market forecasts from experts, suggesting the crypto bear market may finally be over. Should positive crypto updates come from today’s White House crypto meeting with Trump, and the long-awaited CLARITY act get passed, the market could rally back to 2025 highs.
