U.S. Regulatory Agencies Expected to Advance Cryptocurrency Rules Amid CLARITY Act Stalemate

Michael Saylor, founder of Strategy, has indicated that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and the Treasury Department are likely to continue developing regulations for digital assets based on existing laws. This comes as the CLARITY Act faces significant hurdles in Congress, potentially delaying comprehensive legislative solutions for the cryptocurrency sector.

Saylor believes that banks will increasingly offer Bitcoin custody services and Bitcoin-collateralized loans, leading to a rise in investments in Bitcoin and digital credit. He also mentioned that the GENIUS Act is expected to facilitate greater adoption of stablecoins, suggesting that the growth of the cryptocurrency industry can proceed despite the current legislative impasse surrounding the CLARITY Act.
