Coinbase Enhances Prediction Market Infrastructure with ION Technology

Coinbase Global, Inc., a prominent player in the cryptocurrency sector, is advancing its prediction-market operations by integrating ION's XTP technology. This move aims to bolster the infrastructure behind its event-contract business, allowing for real-time processing of increasing volumes in prediction markets while minimizing disruptions to existing operations.

The collaboration with ION, which began in December 2025, enables Coinbase to support Kalshi's regulated prediction markets directly within its app. The XTP platform has already demonstrated its capabilities by managing high-volume trading, including Kalshi's first million trades during the Super Bowl weekend. This technology facilitates automated operations and the onboarding of thousands of accounts daily, enhancing the overall efficiency of the event-contract business.

Toni Gemayel, Head of Prediction Markets at Coinbase, emphasized that the new technology is crucial for expanding their event-contract offerings while ensuring operational stability. Kalshi's Vice President of Business Development, Max Crowley, noted that the integration of XTP also aids in managing operational risks as they increase access to regulated prediction markets. This partnership positions Coinbase to handle higher transaction volumes and streamline account management as its business continues to grow.
