Ethereum L1 and Base Split on Account Abstraction Standards After EIP-8130 and EIP-8141 Collaboration Breaks DownEthlabs researcher Derek Chiang said efforts to align EIP-8130 and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions) broke down last week, leaving Ethereum L1 and Base to pursue different account abstraction standards. Both aim to support features such as gasless transactions and passkeys, but Ethereum L1 places greater emphasis on censorship resistance, privacy and security, while Base and other L2s prioritize scalability, configurability and compliance. Chiang said the divergence could fragment EVM transaction standards and wallet UX, though wallets and applications may ultimately abstract away the differences across chains.
