Ethereum Price Holds Near $2,513 Going Into…
Updated 14 September 2026. Ethereum traded at $2,513.44 on Coinbase and $2,513.26 on Kraken as of 06:39 UTC, inside a 24-hour range of $2,461.69 to $2,525.71 against a $2,475.95 open. Bitcoin was at $77,476.
Verdict: ETH is sitting directly underneath the one level that has repeatedly capped it, going into a Fed decision that prediction markets price at roughly four-to-one for a hike. The flow data is the part that has actually changed.
Key facts
- Ethereum was quoted at $2,513.44 (Coinbase) and $2,513.26 (Kraken) at 06:39 UTC on 14 September 2026. Kraken’s 24-hour range was $2,461.69 to $2,525.71 on a $2,475.95 open, leaving ETH up roughly 1.5% on the session.
- The FOMC meets 15-16 September, with the decision due Wednesday 16 September at 2:00pm ET.
- Polymarket priced a 25bp increase at 79.5% and no change at 20.5% as of 06:31 UTC on 14 September, with a 25bp cut at 0.35%. The event carried about $7.08 million of 24-hour volume.
- Other gauges sit higher and disagree: CME FedWatch was reported near 90% after the CPI print (CBS News), and around 85% at centralbank.watch. Treat the hike probability as a range of roughly 79.5% to 90%, not a single number.
- August CPI ran at +0.4% month on month and 3.4% year on year, with core at +0.3% against a 0.2% consensus. EY-Parthenon projects a 25bp move to a 3.75-4.00% target range.
- US spot Ethereum ETFs took a $216.4 million net inflow on 11 September, the largest daily total of that week, with BlackRock’s ETHA contributing about $149 million (SoSoValue data, reported 12 September). That was the twelfth consecutive day of net inflows.
- Over the same stretch the flow split was directional: spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $462.73 million of cumulative net outflows between 8 and 11 September.
The level that matters is about $30 above spot
Ethereum at $2,513 is not in open space. Analyst Ted Pillows has flagged that ETH tried to clear $2,550 and failed again, and that the ceiling sits on the 50-week moving average at $2,542. Kraken’s 24-hour high of $2,525.71 is another approach to the same shelf that has not yet gone through.
That is why the Fed decision is the relevant forward event rather than a footnote. ETH is not trying to break out from mid-range. It is pressed against a level it has been rejected from before, and Wednesday supplies the macro catalyst that either funds the attempt or ends it. Pillows himself is not calling for the breakout: he expects more sideways movement and a small capitulation before a genuine reversal.
Below, the structure is well defined. Pillows marks $2,200 as first support; other technical work puts a support band at $2,320 to $2,438. Those are the levels that get tested if Wednesday goes badly.
The flow rotation is the genuinely new information
Price has been close to flat. Fund flows have not. On 11 September, US spot Ethereum ETFs pulled in $216.4 million net, their strongest day of that week, with BlackRock’s ETHA alone taking roughly $149 million. It marked a twelfth straight session of net inflows, though the pace through the week was uneven: 8 September saw about $24.3 million of net outflows before the trend reversed the next day with roughly $34.7 million of inflows.
What makes the number interesting is the other side of it. Spot Bitcoin ETFs shed approximately $462.73 million on a cumulative net basis between 8 and 11 September. Money was not simply arriving in crypto funds, it was moving between them. For background on how the ETF flow picture looked earlier in that week, see our 11 September report on crypto ETF outflows, and for the supply-side context on how much ETH is locked in staking against a shrinking ETF float, see our 8 September analysis.
A caveat worth stating plainly: one week of flows is not a regime. The rotation is real and dated, but it is four sessions, and ETF flows have reversed inside a week more than once this year.
What Wednesday actually decides
The market is not really debating whether the Fed hikes. At 79.5% on Polymarket and near 90% on CME FedWatch, a 25bp increase is close to priced. The live questions are the Summary of Economic Projections and the dot plot that accompany the decision, which is where the path beyond September gets set.
For a risk asset trading under resistance, that asymmetry cuts a specific way. A hike that is already priced does relatively little on its own. A hawkish dot plot is the scenario that takes out the $2,320-$2,438 support band, and a decision framed as the last move in the cycle is the one that funds an attempt at $2,542. We set out the full divergence between the prediction-market and futures-implied odds, with both measurement times, in our 12 September piece on the Polymarket and CME FedWatch gap.
Scenarios into and after the decision
| Scenario | ETH level | Named anchor |
|---|---|---|
| Bear | $2,200 | Ted Pillows’ first support. The intermediate band at $2,320-$2,438 is tested first. |
| Base | $2,542-$2,550 | The 50-week moving average at $2,542 and the $2,550 ceiling ETH has already failed at. Pillows expects sideways action and a small capitulation before any genuine reversal. |
| Bull | $2,800 | Pillows’ next resistance zone. A sustained break above $2,500-$2,510 opens $2,600 and $2,700 first; separate technical work puts $2,920 in play if the breakout holds. |
For a longer horizon anchor, Tom Lee has said Ethereum could reach around $6,000 if Bitcoin hits $150,000. That is a conditional on a Bitcoin level roughly double the current $77,476, and belongs in a different time frame from this week’s decision.
Quick take
ETH at $2,513 is roughly $30 below a ceiling that has rejected it before, with a hike already close to fully priced. The honest read is that Wednesday’s dot plot matters more than the rate decision itself. The one thing that has measurably changed in the past week is not price but allocation: $216.4 million into Ethereum ETFs on 11 September against roughly $463 million out of Bitcoin ETFs over four sessions. Whether that rotation survives the meeting is the question worth watching.
FAQ
What is the Ethereum price today?
Ethereum traded at $2,513.44 on Coinbase and $2,513.26 on Kraken at 06:39 UTC on 14 September 2026, within a 24-hour range of $2,461.69 to $2,525.71. Crypto trades continuously, so treat any single quote as a snapshot.
When is the Fed decision and what is priced in?
The FOMC meets 15-16 September with the decision on Wednesday 16 September at 2:00pm ET. Polymarket priced a 25bp hike at 79.5% as of 06:31 UTC on 14 September; CME FedWatch has been reported near 90% and centralbank.watch around 85%. The honest framing is a range of roughly 79.5% to 90%.
Why is Ethereum struggling at $2,550?
That level coincides with the 50-week moving average at $2,542. Analyst Ted Pillows has noted ETH tried to clear $2,550 and failed again, which makes it a tested ceiling rather than an arbitrary round number.
Are Ethereum ETFs seeing inflows or outflows?
Inflows, recently. US spot Ethereum ETFs took $216.4 million net on 11 September, with BlackRock’s ETHA at about $149 million, marking a twelfth consecutive day of net inflows. The week was uneven, with about $24.3 million of outflows on 8 September before reversing.
Is money rotating from Bitcoin into Ethereum?
The dated evidence points that way over a short window: spot Bitcoin ETFs saw roughly $462.73 million of cumulative net outflows between 8 and 11 September while Ethereum funds took inflows. Four sessions is not a trend, and ETF flows have reversed quickly before.
What is the downside level to watch?
The first support band is $2,320 to $2,438, with $2,200 marked by Ted Pillows as first support below that. A hawkish dot plot on Wednesday is the most obvious catalyst for a test.
Could Ethereum reach $2,800?
That is Pillows’ next resistance zone, and it requires clearing $2,542-$2,550 first, then $2,600 and $2,700. Separate technical work puts $2,920 in play only if a breakout holds.
