Solana Identity to Cease Operations and Delete User Data by Year-End 2026

Solana Identity, an onchain identity protocol within the Solana ecosystem, announced on August 19 that it will discontinue its services, including the ID Hub, API, and Display Network, by September 30, 2026. The company will also delete all user data and email lists by December 31, 2026, unless users actively choose to retain their email list placement.

As part of the shutdown, Solana Identity has burned its treasury holdings of the $SOLID token, although the token will remain available on-chain with locked liquidity pools. The protocol operated on a 'data-2-earn' model, where verifiers paid in $SOLID tokens to access identity data, rewarding users for their contributions.

The closure of Solana Identity leaves other identity projects on the Solana network, such as Civic and the Solana Attestation Service, to fill the gap. Developers utilizing Solana ID's verification services are encouraged to transition to alternative solutions before the September 2026 deadline. Users are advised to act promptly if they wish to preserve their data before the end of the year.
