Arizona, USA has helped 35 cryptocurrency ATM scam victims recover approximately $170,000

PANews reported on August 16, according to Crowdfund Insider, that funds lost by Arizona residents in cryptocurrency ATM scams have begun to be fully refunded through the state’s consumer protection laws. The office of state Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that it has helped 35 victims successfully recover all of $171,332 in funds, including related fees.

These recoveries stem from Arizona’s Cryptocurrency Self-Service Terminal License Fraud Prevention Act, which took effect on September 26, 2025. The act clearly sets out the obligations of cryptocurrency self-service terminal and ATM operators. When a customer reports a transaction as fraudulent, the company must refund the full amount involved as well as all related fees. Whether a refund can be obtained depends on acting quickly: victims must notify the Attorney General’s Office or local law enforcement within 30 days after the transaction occurs.
