Bitcoin Recovers 40% from July Low, Speculation on $100,000 Resurfaces

Bitcoin has rebounded significantly, climbing approximately 40% from its July 1 low of around $57,748 to a trading range of $79,000 to $81,000 in early September. This recovery has reignited discussions about the cryptocurrency potentially reaching the $100,000 mark, although prediction markets suggest a low probability of this occurring by the end of 2026, currently estimated at about 28%.

August marked Bitcoin's best monthly performance since 2017, with a gain of roughly 25%. This surge allowed Bitcoin to surpass its 50-month moving average for the first time since the previous crypto winter. Despite this rally, Bitcoin remains over 35% below its all-time high of approximately $126,198, indicating that the current price movement is more about recovery than new highs.

Ethereum has also shown strong performance, appreciating around 56% during the same period, outpacing Bitcoin significantly. The recovery in Bitcoin is attributed to two main factors: institutional investment through spot Bitcoin ETFs, which have provided consistent buying pressure, and favorable macroeconomic conditions that have positively impacted risk assets in traditional markets.
