Broadridge Brings Crypto and Tokenized Assets Into US…
Broadridge has expanded its digital-assets platform into the United States, allowing broker-dealers, registered investment advisers and wealth managers to place cryptocurrencies and tokenized securities alongside traditional investments. The company announced the US rollout in a release after making the platform available in Canada.Anchorage Digital and Galaxy are the first named providers in the platform’s ecosystem. Broadridge said the wider model can connect custodians, wallet providers, liquidity firms and compliance services while allowing wealth managers to retain existing books-and-records systems. The proposition is less about adding a crypto trading screen than integrating digital assets into established adviser, operations and reporting workflows. That includes confirmations, statements, tax processes, regulatory reporting, custody, governance and proxy voting.
Digital Assets Enter Existing Books and Records
Broadridge said firms can support both adviser-led and self-directed accounts through the platform. Traditional and digital positions can appear in one client experience, while existing Broadridge or third-party systems continue to feed downstream services. That operating model addresses a weakness in many early digital-asset offerings. A wealth firm could give a client access to crypto through a separate account, but the adviser might lack a consolidated view and operations teams could face a second set of reconciliation, reporting and supervision processes.Tom Carey, global head of product and technology at Broadridge, said: “Digital assets are moving from the margins to the mainstream investment conversations for U.S. investors, advisors and wealth managers. Our platform helps firms extend the trusted wealth experience they already provide to include digital assets, while managing the operational complexity behind the scenes.”Carey added: “By bringing traditional and digital investments together in a single environment, we are helping clients expand investor choice while maintaining the controls, service model and experience their businesses require.”The rollout sits within a wider convergence between conventional and crypto distribution. Crypto firms are building everything exchanges across several asset classes, while banks such as UniCredit are evaluating digital-asset custody and brokerage infrastructure.Anchorage and Galaxy Supply Initial Infrastructure
Anchorage Digital will provide institutional custody and settlement capabilities. Galaxy will contribute digital-asset market infrastructure and related services. Broadridge said the platform supports multiple custodians and both omnibus and segregated wallet structures, giving firms scope to select different providers as their product sets change.Nathan McCauley, CEO and co-founder at Anchorage Digital, said: “Crypto is no longer a side conversation in wealth management, it’s the conversation. As American’s first federally chartered digital asset bank, we’re proud to bring institutional-grade custody and settlement to Broadridge’s platform, so U.S. wealth managers can offer their clients digital assets with the same trust and rigor as everything else in their portfolios.”Mike Novogratz, founder and CEO at Galaxy, said: “As a global leader in digital assets, Galaxy is pleased to combine its digital asset market infrastructure and capabilities with Broadridge’s established wealth management platform as the company expands its next generation digital asset capabilities to US wealth management firms.”Custody structure remains a central regulatory and operational question. Block’s application for a national trust bank charter shows the industry’s effort to put digital-asset custody within recognised supervisory structures. The presence of named providers does not remove the wealth firm’s own duties concerning suitability, disclosure and supervision.DLX Extends the Platform to Tokenized Securities
Broadridge’s DLX infrastructure supports tokenized equities, funds and private or alternative investments across issuance, trading, financing, settlement and servicing. It also supports onchain governance and proxy voting for several tokenized-security models. The company said its Distributed Ledger Repo service processes more than $351 billion of tokenized assets each day. That figure relates to institutional repo activity on the Broadridge service and should not be read as the value of tokenized wealth assets held through the new US platform.Tokenized assets can add transferability and longer operating hours, but the underlying legal rights and settlement model still depend on the instrument. Round-the-clock tokenized trading has not eliminated fragmented settlement. Wealth managers will need to identify whether a product conveys ownership, an issuer claim or synthetic exposure.Broadridge also says the platform supports retail and institutional proxy voting and regulatory disclosures. Those functions are important because a token representing a security should not automatically be assumed to carry the same voting, distribution or insolvency rights as the referenced asset. The US expansion gives wealth firms a route to integrate new assets without running an entirely separate operating stack. It also increases the need to reconcile continuous digital markets with conventional servicing calendars. Stablecoin payment products face a similar challenge when onchain transfers connect with regulated payment and card systems. The next evidence of adoption will be the number of US wealth firms using the platform, the assets they make available and whether the promised unified records reduce reconciliation work in practice.Source: FinanceFeeds
